Not been out for a while so walked to the River Ouse this morning. It certainly was windy, on the limit of what was practical. I am glad I stuck at it as the result was satisfactory. I only used three colours, cobalt blue, cadmium yellow and cadmium red light, to keep things simple. Reviewing my paintings from last year it is the composition that lets many of them down. Not necessarily bad but just rather predictable. I used lots of artistic licence to make this one more dynamic. I introduced warm colours from the low sun behind me so the painting captures what was there better than my photo. Can’t wait to get out again!
