Autumn is a great time of year for painting. but also a time to look back over the summer, review the successes and the not so good. Definitely widened my choice of subjects this year, and in the main gone for more adventurous compositions.  Not many weeks ago I hiding from the sun at Battlesbridge in Essex.  I chose the location as it offered the promise of interesting boatyard “junk”.  As it was it turned out to be disapppointing as limited assess to river, and a rather busy road. The VERY blue sky did not help.  The painting looks likes two in the same frame.

From the Cambridge Open Studios event I got a commission to paint a Lavender Farm near Hitchen  – yes near Hitchen not Norfolk see    .  As it was the view I was asked to do had scope for a painting

Spend a few mornings at the Pike and Eel Marina sketching boat so they actually sit on the water

Late in September I went off to Norfolk and the Broads with a couple of friends – small selection from the trip below

This last one is a good record of what I saw,but a rather dull composition!
