Brush Marks
I have been enjoying trying different brush marks – small marks for quiet evenings at dusk on the Fens – broad bold ones for blustery days in Northamptonshire. I hope you can see what I mean from the photos of recent sketches? I have been tempted by more square brush strokes after having purchased some new brushes from Rosemary and Co . They are artificial hog so have more spring in them than I am used to . The results can be very structural, if a bit crude, and it is easy to lose sight of what you are actually painting ( soft clouds vs hard building etc) but worth thinking about.
Your painting reminds me of a Manet with the beautiful muted colors and atmospheric feel. Very, very nice.
